I have had an interest in Real Estate for many years. I enjoyed renovating investment properties that my parents used to buy to rent out. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in mechanical engineering, I worked for a consulting engineering firm where I was on a team that designed municipal infrastructure. My love for construction came about when I spent a year on a construction site on an $11,000,000 project inspecting and supervising contractors. I went on to work for the Ministry of Environment for 7 years as a project engineer and managed about $150,000,000 worth of projects, from large water main installations to waste incinerators.
After my stint at the Ministry I needed a fresh challenge and I started my own successful home inspection business. I became a Registered Home Inspector, Building Code Qualified, and WETT certified back in 1998. With my knowledge and experience, I went on to purchase and renovate a building in Oakridges and convert it into a Montessori Pre-school which my wife operates. The value of the property has tripled and is still climbing as the area grows. Itching for another project, I purchased a cottage and spent two summers renovating it, from electrical to plumbing, including building the custom pine kitchen. With a little patience and some work I boosted the market value of this property by $75,000.
I am quite practical and down to earth and always look after my clients best interests. Being a design engineer, safety and reliability was always paramount, and I bring the same standards and professional courteousy to anything else that I do. Buyers and sellers see advantages in my service because of my experience from new homes to century homes. From a seller’s point of view, I can assess a homes condition, not just cosmetically, and make recommendations for sale thus saving them potential grief, time and money.
